Parliament

This term we have been learning about Parliament. We have looked at the difference between government and parliament, NZ parliament, who is in government, how our government works and we compared democracy to dictatorship.

Three things that I learned are NZ parliament are:

• John key can get kicked out of parliament by the Speaker. (David Carter)
• The Clerks help out the Speaker by informing him with the rules.
• Serjeant-at-Arms carries the Mace into parliament and introduces the Speaker at the start of a session and protects the Speaker.

The activity I played was Netball - A team

My 2 highlights:

1. The food shops there because after our very last game we got junk food.

2. Being able to play all the games and coming 6th out of 32 teams.

I am proud of how well our team played together because we played to the rules which were to be fair, kind and have fun.

Some advice I would give to the years 7's for next year is to make sure you put sunblock everywhere and to not worry about the outcome and make sure you have fun.

CARE: My progress so far

The CARE award that I am working towards is:  Bronze

The one area of CARE that I am doing best in is:    Classroom       because: I have most ticks in that area.

The one area of CARE that I need to work harder in is:     Eating         because: I don't have as many ticks in that area.

To show my leadership qualities I am a role model to others in the CARE values by doing/showing these leadership traits: Motivational and trustworthy.

On the CARE SOLO matrix below I am at this SOLO level: Relational            because: I can do whats listed below.

My CARE progress

I have done a check of my CARE progress so far this year.

I am proud of my progress/ I am doing ok/ I feel I could do much better.

because I have ticks that need to be checked off and I haven't been checking them off regularly.

How far away are you from reaching your BRONZE/SILVER?

Half way so I need more ticks around the same amount that I already have to achieve my bronze.

The area of CARE that I need to try harder in C / A / R / E

because I don't have as much ticks in E as the rest.

To achieve my BRONZE/SILVER award quicker I need to keep recording all my ticks instead of some.

The one thing that I can do to improve my progress in CARE is to record my ticks and do the things I need to do to achieve them.

We will review CARE progress again at the end of the term.
