Screenshot 2016-11-21 at 11.57.23 AM.png

  1. Sweatshirt- The surf shop sweatshirt is cheaper because you take 30% off and it’s cheaper than the other sweatshirt.
  2. Sweatshirt- The surf shop sweatshirt is $18 because you take 30% off and the other sweatshirt is $28 because you take 40% off, so the sweatshirt is $10 cheaper.

  1. Jacket- Surf the waves shop jacket is cheaper because even though it has a lower percent it is still cheaper.
  2. Jacket- The surf shop Jacket is $36 because you take away 30% the second jacket is  $19 because you take 20% off so the second jacket is $6 cheaper.
  1. Jeans- The surf shop Jeans are cheaper because you take 30% off and it makes it cheaper than the other jeans.

A) The least amount of money you could spend if you brought one of each of these clothing items would be 200.40.

B) The most amount of money you could spend would be around $224.80.

C) You would save 24.40 in total.

The thing that I found most challenging was using percentages to solve the equation.

Some strategies we did:
12 ÷ 3 =1 2/3
. Find a fraction of another fraction by multiply.
. Describe and show remaining tenths, hundredths and thousandths as decimals fractions and relate them to replace value order.

Parliament with Miss O

This term we have been learning about Parliament. We have looked at the difference between government and parliament, NZ parliament, who is in government, how our government works and we compared democracy to dictatorship.

Three things that I learned are NZ parliament are:

  • John key can get kicked out of parliament by the Speaker. (David Carter)
  • The Clerks help out the Speaker by informing him with the rules.
  • Serjeant-at-Arms carries the Mace into parliament and introduces the Speaker at the start of a session and protects the Speaker.

Koru Games Reflection 2016

The activity I played was Netball - A team

My 2 highlights:

1. The food shops there because after our very last game we got junk food.
2. Being able to play all the games and coming 6th out of 32 teams.

I am proud of how well our team played together because we played to the rules which were to be fair, kind and have fun.

Some advice I would give to the years 7's for next year is to make sure you put sunblock everywhere and to not worry about the outcome and make sure you have fun.
