Find and validate data measures e.g. Mean, median, mode and range from appropriate displays

I can describe what mean, median, mode and range mean.

Mean: Add all the numbers together and then divide it by how many numbers there are e.g.  23+25+28+31+37+41=185 then 185 divide it by 6= 30.8

Median: Get all your numbers from smallest to largest then get the one in the middle and that's your answer. If there are two numbers in the middle then plus them together then divide the answer by two

Mode: The answer is the number that is shown most e.g. 3,6,4,8,3,6,2,2,3,3 the answer is 3 because it is shown most

Range: Get the largest number and the smallest number minus them and the answer is your answer

I can read and interpret a range of graphs

I can read and interpret a range of graphs

For maths I have been learning to read and interpret a range of graphs. This relates to the National Standards as it meets the criteria of:
  • I can compare distributions visually (Year ⅞ Standard)

Here is link to my Statistical Literacy spreadsheet link which shows all of the graphs and tables I can read and interpret.

I have also compared and contrasted some of the graphs. Below are the links to them

My next step is to use these in my leadership investigation next term.

My Argument

For writing we have been learning to write an argument using the writing process. The topic was “Are Devices Taking Over Our Lives”.

Something I did really well in my writing was coming up with ideas that fit the topic.

Here is a section of my writing that shows this.

Peer mediation merit evidence can do (post 3)

Peer mediation

On Wednesday I had peer mediation with Savannah. We got our lan yards, high vis and iPad and went to the junior area first. Once we got their we had juniors come up to us and say hi we let them talk to us for a little bit then they went off to play, then saw a little girl get pushed over (she was playing a game) so we took her to a duty teacher to get sorted. Then we left to go to the left side of the field to walk around and keep an eye out, we had more juniors come up to us and they talk to us then the bell rang and they ran to their classes and we started to head back to class to line up.

The learner qualities/care values I used are:

PE- fielding and striking reflection

WALT: Apply Striking and Fielding activities in a range of sports and activities.

My Strengths Standing side on and having a good grip on the racket.

The striking strategies I was able to effectively demonstrate during the games we played were have a good grip and follow through a little bit.

The throwing and catching strategies I was able to effectively demonstrate during the games we played were watching the ball to where it went and followed through.

My Next Steps are to be more forward and be more involved physical.

To improve my striking of a ball I need to watch the ball coming towards me because the I can aim better.

To Improve my catching and fielding I need to watch the ball and cup my hands because then I'll be ready to catch the ball.

The game that I enjoyed the most was rounders because I got a go at fielding and striking all at one go.
